Your Spring Tick Season Checklist

When the weather warms up, ticks come out in force. Use this 5-point checklist to keep your dog or cat protected all season.

Your Spring Tick Season Checklist

Tick activity peaks in spring and early summer. Even in mild climates, ticks can be active year-round — so a consistent prevention plan matters.

1. Put a fresh collar on at the start of the season. If you've been off prevention for the winter, restart now.

2. Check your pet after every walk in tall grass, woods, or leaf piles. Run your hands along the neck, ears, and belly.

3. Keep your yard tidy — short grass and clear brush reduce tick habitat.

4. Talk to your vet about tick-borne disease testing if your pet has been exposed.

5. Don't forget cats. Indoor cats can still be exposed via open windows, other pets, or your own clothing.
